Every three years, Community Action conducts a comprehensive needs assessment and strategic planning process. The process we finalized in 2008 was more in-depth and therefore more meaningful than ever before. We gained invaluable information and insight by surveying over 900 participants, collaborators, staff, and Board members, and conducting numerous focus groups throughout Franklin and Hampshire Counties and the North Quabbin region. The resulting strategic plan provides clear and flexible guidance for our work as we continue to adapt to changing community need.

The economic forecast, for the near future at least, is bleak. Much of our strategic planning revolved around creative ways to help more people in need, even as we anticipate that our own resources will be reduced. And we also made plans to directly address the policies that systematically create poverty and neglect those who are impoverished.
