Community Action understands the importance of education.
In a classroom at its Family Learning Center in Greenfield, Community Action offers education for parents who have very young children and who have not yet completed high school, including preparation for GED (General Educational Development) testing. Because we recognize how hard it is to go to school, work, and parent young children at the same time, we also provide support to help parents stay on track with their education. Parents in our classroom - and parents in our other programs who are finishing high school in other places – have access to child care, transportation, parenting information, and emotional support. Many people in Community Action programs continue on to college or vocational training. Learn more about our Adult Education programs. In addition, Community Action provides education about financial management.
Community Action also operates a Harmon Personnel Staffing Services, which places qualified individuals in temporary jobs. Through Harmon, we provide Employment Readiness Training for the clerical, professional, and light industrial fields. We collaborate closely with the local Career Center to help participants gain job readiness skills, including how to conduct a job search, write a resume, and prepare for an interview.
