Employee Benefits at a Glance...

Community Action provides a complete package of benefits designed to provide preventive care, protection from loss and to assist in planning for the future. A summary of the major benefits available follows. Additional information can be provided by Community Action's fiscal office or by your hiring committee.

Medical Benefits

Community Action offers Health New England to all employees normally scheduled to work 20 hours per week or more.   We have both a standard Health New England HMO plan and a High Deductible plan. For more information, see the fiscal office.  For employees working 30 hours or more, the premium cost is shared - 80% employer/20% employee. The premium cost is pro-rated for those working between 20 -30 hours.

Dental Benefit

Community Action provides dental insurance through ]MetLife Dental. Dental coverage is available to all employees normally scheduled to work 20 hours per week or more. For those employees normally scheduled to work 30 hours a week or more, the cost is shared 50/50 with the employee. The premium cost is prorated for those working between 20 - 30 hours.  We offer two choices of plan coverage.  Details regarding coverage levels are available in the fiscal office.

Paid Days Off

Paid time off includes 12 1/2 holidays per year, 12 paid days of sick time annually for full-time staff (to a maximum of 75 days), 3 personal days, access to the sick leave bank (as a last resort) and vacation time accrued monthly on the following schedule:

1-36 months of employment (three weeks)

37-59 months of employment (three weeks & 3 days)

60-199 months of employment (four weeks)

120+ months of employment (five weeks)

Community Action provides, at no cost to the employee, an insurance policy for Life, Accidental Death & Dismemberment, and Long-term Disability for each employee normally scheduled to work 20 hours per week or more. (Short-term disability is normally covered with sick leave or sick bank time).Long-term Disability

The life insurance and accidental death or dismemberment insurance benefit is equal to an eligible employee's base annual wage. For long-term disability insurance the coverage is 60% of an employee's weekly base wage. Long-term disability is available after a waiting period of 90 days of disability.

Flexible Benefits Plan

Community Action offers a Flexible Spending Account, also called an IRS Section 125 Plan. The Flexible Benefits Plan allows the employee to make any required contributions to the group health and dental plans on a pre-tax basis. It also enables the employee to contribute to medical reimbursement and dependent care reimbursement on a pre-tax basis. You must use the amount you have set aside by the end of the plan year.

Retirement Plan

Community Action makes available a 403(b) tax-deferred annuity for all employees wishing to participate. The plan is offered through VALIC or TIAA-CREF. Employees can contribute up to the amount allowable by the IRS. After a year of service, Community Action provides a 100% match of an employee's contribution up to 2.0% of the employee's wages. Employees are not vested in the Community Action 2% contribution until they have been employed for three years.
