Call Community Resources & Advocacy to learn how we can help you apply for a discounted utility rate!
If you are struggling with utility bills, have received a shut-off notice or are about to run out of heating fuel, please call our Community Resources & Advocacy program (formerly known as First Call for Help). Our staff work directly with households, utility companies and the Fuel Assistance program toward the goal of keeping the lights and heat on for low-income households.
Our staff assists households in applying for the discount utility rate program and advocate to establish payment arrangements that are manageable for low-income utility customers. Staff provide customers with information about their rights and responsibilities, and when necessary, advocate directly with utility providers to establish or restore service.
Our Community Resources & Advocacy staff work with households in need to access any financial assistance that may be available to prevent utility shut-offs or restore service when it has already been terminated.
