ADMINISTRATION, IT

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT TECHNICIAN
If you have experience in, and enjoy working with, technology while supporting users at different levels then we would like to talk to you. This position is responsible for installing  and maintaining IT systems, including computer workstations, printers, servers, fax machines, copiers, networking equipment, and telephones. It also provides user support at sites located in Franklin, Hampshire and Hampden counties and is a great opportunity to learn new skills. This position can be part or full time depending on your circumstances, with excellent benefits (pro-rated if part-time).  Hourly rate commensurate with experience.

FRANKLIN/HAMPSHIRE/

NORTH QUABBIN WIC

 

SENIOR NUTRITIONIST

Full Time: 37.5 hours per week

Qualifications
One of the following 3:

  • Master’s Degree in public health nutrition, nutrition or nutrition education and one year of post graduate community nutrition experience or
  • Registered Dietician with one year of post graduate community nutrition experience or
  • BS Nutrition and two years of post graduate community nutrition experience.
  • WIC experience preferred.
  • At least one year of experience in counseling.
  • Excellent communication, leadership skills and decision-making skills.
  • Experience in program planning and administration.
  • Available to work at multiple WIC sites and some evening and weekend hours.
  • Sensitive to the needs of the participant population.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, supervise and evaluate nutrition component of WIC program to ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations.
  • Provide nutrition assessment, education and counseling to high risk clients.
  • Train, mentor, supervise and evaluate nutrition staff in provision of nutrition services.
  • Establish schedule for group and individual nutrition education.
  • Represent local program at Statewide WIC meetings and trainings.
  • Oversee planning, provision and evaluation of nutrition education for Farmers Market.
  • Act as a liaison between state agency and local program, and between local program and local health care community.
  • Regularly visit and communicate with health care providers.
  • Work with the Program Director and Community Coordinator to develop outreach and referral networks, and provide training, as needed ,to community agencies and health care providers
  • Ensure that nutrition staff has up-to –date knowledge and skills by facilitating 10 CEU’s annually, and by conducting annual reviews of the nutrition staff with the Director.
  • Works with and supervises the Breastfeeding Coordinator to develop, implement and evaluate breastfeeding promotion and support activities.

NUTRITIONIST

Full Time: 37.5 hours per week

Qualifications

  • BS Nutrition required.
  • At least one year of experience in clinical or community nutrition preferred.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Available to work at multiple WIC sites and some evening and weekend hours.
  • Sensitive to the needs of the participant population.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide nutrition care to women, infants and children under the supervision of the Senior Nutritionist.
  • Participates in the planning, development and evaluation of:

Educational materials and group nutrition education sessions Participant counseling and education strategies

Nutrition in-services, outreach activities and nutrition policies.

  • Assists Senior Nutritionist in training paraprofessional WIC staff and conducting quality assurance activities.
  • Communicates with health care community on issues pertaining to participant needs.

YOUTH PROGRAMS

2 Positions Available: Community Action Youth Programs seeks two energetic, organized, self motivated individuals to work with youth ages 14-21 in Hampshire Co./Franklin Co./ North Quabbin.  Must be a strong team member, take initiative, able to work independently, and build community collaborations.  Bilingual (Spanish-English)/Bicultural applicants encouraged.

EMPLOYMENT READINESS SPECIALIST (30 hrs/wk): Ideal candidate will be a positive role model with educational/employment readiness support experience to work one on one and in group programming with low-income youth to identify goals, develop job skills, and find education and job opportunities.

YOUTH LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST (37.5 hrs/wk): Ideal candidate will be an experienced youth development professional who can effectively engage young people in community projects and youth-serving coalitions, building youth leadership capacity and impacting communities.

SUBSTITUTE BUS MONITOR
Community Action’s Parent-Child Development Center is seeking substitute Bus Monitors in Amherst, Easthampton, Orange, and Turners Falls. Bus Monitors assist infants, toddlers, and preschoolers on and off the school bus. Bus routes run 1 ½ - 3 hrs during the early mornings, midday, and late afternoons. Must be able to engage children in positive social behaviors; assist children to their seats and secure them safely; safely unload children and release to their authorized adult; work cooperatively with the driver, staff, and parents; and maintain a professional and positive attitude. All applicants must be at least 18 yrs. old and have reliable transportation to meet the bus. Prospective employees must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and successfully pass a background check, plus submit a current physical. CPR and First Aid certified preferred. SUBSTITUTE ASSISTANT COOK
Looking for substitute kitchen assistants at in our Turners Falls, Amherst, Westfield and West Springfield sites.  This individual must have flexibility in schedule, be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs and unload food for delivery. Will receive paid training time. Valid driver’s license and evidence of a safe driving record a must. Job will include all aspects of cooking/serving and cleanup.  Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory Early Education & Care Background Record Check (BRC) investigation. Hours will vary week to week.  Pay rate is $9.10 per hour.
