GenerationQ Middle School
GenerationQ is a confidential educational and social/support group for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning youth and straight allies ages 14-21. This peer-led group provides an opportunity for youth to make new friends, find support and get educated on LGBTQIA+ topics.
GenQ provides additional education and support to trans and gender non-conforming youth during GenerationQ meetings. Participants experience a safe and supportive space while becoming leaders in their community.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, GenQ is utilizing a peer support model for youth during the week through the Discord app. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3 to 5 p.m., we host virtual meetings. These meetings vary from group voice chats, to movie days and video meetings. Youth are welcome to participate at the level that makes most sense for them.
GenerationQ Middle School is a group for middle school-aged youth. This group has been meeting during the pandemic via Zoom meetings.
GenerationQ peer leaders and participants also plan community events throughout the year, including the Kiss N Tell Ball, a LGBTQIA+ formal dance, and Trans Day Of Remembrance Vigil. GenQ participants have also presented at a number of area conferences and spoken to students at local schools about LGBTQIA+ related issues.
