Community Action Pioneer Valley announces $539,000 grant for playgrounds at new Head Start site

WESTFIELD — Community Action Pioneer Valley celebrated a major milestone this month, as the agency started clearing the way for its new Head Start facility in Westfield. In addition, the agency was awarded $539,000 in capital funding from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to construct two state-of-the-art playgrounds at the new site.

The playground funding is part of $14.1 million in capital grants awarded by the Healey-Driscoll Administration to 28 organizations across Massachusetts to renovate and expand early education and care facilities. CAPV was one of only five organizations to receive a large grant between $500,000 and $1 million. Grants are administered by the Department of Early Education and Care in partnership with the Children’s Investment Fund.
