Family & Community Engagement

Family Partnership

We understand that as your child’s parent, you are the most important person in their life. Our role is to support your whole family by learning your unique strengths. We use the Brazelton Touchpoints™ Approach, which is evidence-based and trauma-informed. Our goal is to support your relationship with your child and your child’s development. We have on-staff trainers of the approach and are a designated Touchpoints™ site.

We regularly offer Parent Groups led by staff trained in the Touchpoints Approach. There, you will find a judgment-free zone – a place to talk about your child’s development and to find support with other parents.

Family Self-Sufficiency

Your Family Advocate will talk with you about your strengths and needs so that they can understand your hopes, wishes, and goals. We often see families set goals about housing, education, employment, transportation, and more. Over time, many Head Start families raise their incomes! This can help your child to be successful long after your family graduates from our program.

Family Leadership

As a Head Start program, we rely on your experience and leadership to help us improve our services. We invite you to become involved in:

  • Family Meetings - monthly meetings by and for parents at sites
  • Head Start Policy Council - monthly meetings to help with program decision making
  • Volunteer Opportunities

The Policy Council brings parents’ voices and perspectives to guide program decisions. As a voting member on Policy Council, you can help us provide positive learning experiences for all children. Parents from all backgrounds and family structures are welcome to run for election.
