What is facilitation?
Facilitation is a process in which a neutral third party conducts a meeting, assisting a group in establishing an agenda and structure for the meeting and encouraging constructive communication throughout the process. The facilitator is experienced in conflict resolution and prepared to help the group address underlying needs or tensions. The facilitator creates an atmosphere where participants are comfortable expressing individual or group concerns. The facilitation process often contributes to the group's capacity for conducting future meetings more effectively on its own. Facilitation differs from group mediation in that it does not follow a predetermined format and is not necessarily issue or agreement oriented.
When is facilitation helpful?
Harmonious intergroup dynamics are essential for the effective functioning of all groups - committees, boards, business teams, school or office staffs. When misunderstandings, differing values, underlying tension or unresolved conflicts undermine group harmony, an outside, neutral facilitator can often help the group get back on track.
How much does it cost?
TMTC seeks to make facilitation available to all organizations by offering both non-profit/municipal and corporate rates. The non-profit/municipal fee is $85 per facilitation hour with a $50 per hour intake/needs assessment fee. Corporate rates are $100 per facilitation hour and $50 per hour for intake/needs assessment.
How do I schedule a facilitation?
